SIXTH GENERATION

410. Dr. John Wilson Sayer was born on 27 Jan 1910. He was christened on 3 Apr 1910 in Gouverneur, Jefferson Co, NY.⁽²⁶⁵⁾ He died in Sep 1947 in Tug Hill, Lewis Co, NY. For several years he had lived with chronic back pain. He did not look well when he left that day, his wife observed.

Soon after arriving in Montague, according to investigators, he swallowed a lethal dose of sleeping pills he apparently had mixed with an undertermined poison. When his wife and friends went searching for him the next afternoon, they found his body on the kitchen floor of the camp in the trench coat he had worn form Watertown. The doctor left a note for his wife. He was buried in Family plot in a cemetery in Gouverneur, Jefferson Co, NY.
An Anestesiologist in Gouverneur. He moved to Watertown when his son Steve was 4.

A few year before his death, Dr. Sayer had been exposed to terrible carnage of war. He had served as an officer in the U.S. Army medical corps in the 1940s. For 18 months of World War II, he was an anesthesiologist for wounded troops in Europe.

He was married to Eleanor M. Donavan on 29 Jun 1935 in Ithaca, , NY. Dr. John Wilson Sayer and Eleanor M. Donavan had the following children:

501 ii. Sayer.
502 iii. John Stephen "Steve" Sayer was born about 1942 in Gouverneur, Jefferson Co, NY. He died in Dec 1966 in Rock Pile near the DMZ, South Vietnam. The bomb that killed Steve was droped by the U.S. Piot of an F-4 Phantom Jet.
