THIRD GENERATION
44. Mary Ann Sayer
(74) (75)(76) (77)(78) was born on 3 Apr 1833 in England.(79) She died on 11 Nov 1871 in Omro,
Winnebago Co, WI.(80) She was
buried in Omro, Winnebago Co, WI.
Dorothy Howe (granddaughter of Mary Ann Sayer) 1965:
The Sayers were of Scotch descent. She remembers no Collins. Her father
(Myron) used to tell her of his grandparents making maple syrup and of the
uncles who would put some in cups and hide them behind the barn fo r the
children, because the elders wanted to sell the syrup rather than give it
to the children. Myra and Leora Challoner took a trip to Oswego, NY to
visit Sayre relatives. Mary Ann (Sayer) Samphier walked from Omro to
Oshkosh (about 12 miles) and back and developed a cold and died of
pneumonia.
[The Scotch descent I belive was incorrect.. based on the idea that the
elders wanted to sell the syrup]
She was married to Francis Samphier about 1853.
