Dear Friends

Time again for the annual letter from the Corys. The big news this year is that we moved. We know, you heard that a couple of years ago. Well, after two and half years in our home in Agoura, we decided to move into "the valley". The house is a new on a hill in an older section of Woodland Hills. From our balcony, we have a view of the entire San Fernando Valley.

Vibeké turned eighteen this fall and is in her senior year in high school. She has a job, we not sure where it is this week, but she has a job. She now realizes what it means to go to work, work, and get paid. Her main interest is still drama. This year she had a major supporting role in the school play, "Bell, Book, and Candle". At the annual Thespians Conference, held each year at Cypress College, she was again selected to per- form in the "State" production and received an award for being one of the best "improv" performers in the state.

She is hoping to go to The American Academy of Arts Pasadena next year.

Chris has been with Relational Technology Incorporated (RTI) as a Southern California Technical Support Representative (TSR) for two years now. She has been working hard. In her position as the Southern California Technical Support Manager, she has people reporting to her in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties. Her job has her traveling around Southern California, with occasional trips to Arizona, Nevada, and to the San Francisco area where the home office is in Alameda. She was able to feel some of the major after shocks when she was up there performing training. She has had to go to TSR meetings in Lake Tahoe and someplace else. During her spare time, she "plays" in her garden.

Earl completed his seven-year at CONTEL Corporation in Westlake Village as a Systems Manager. This year his activities in the Digital Equipment Computer User Society (DECUS) expanded. He was the Meeting Coordinator for their semiannual symposia meeting in Atlanta in May. After that, he was elected to be the Vice Chair of the Symposia Committee and in charge of Long Range Planning (LRP).

His LRP committee was invited to have a meeting at Baron Hilton's Ranch near Yerrington Nevada in September. The ranch is the fifth largest in the world and stretches from Yerrington to the shores of Mono Lake in California. The meeting had its own private rooms, chief, horses, fishing, hunting, ATVs, and skeet shooting.

We have been up to other things this year. This summer we did a lot of traveling. Chris's company rewards the sales people who exceed quota with a trip. The sales people are allowed to take with them their "favorite" TSR. Therefore, Chris and Earl spent a week in Switzerland. They stayed at the Montreux Palace Hotel on Lake Geneva, ate a lot, rode around the country on the train, took pictures, went to the Matherhorn, and just generally relaxed.

In the mean time, Vibeké stayed with friends, Joseph and Feltina Mayer, in Berlin. At the end of the week, the three of us meet in Frankfurt, rented a Volvo, and drove around Europe for two more weeks. Leaving Frankfurt, we traveled north along the Rhine, visiting Rudesheim, and continued on to the Netherlands. There we stayed one night with our friends, Eno and Inge Brands, in Appeldorn. The next day, we meet up with the Mayers in Mülheim on the Ruhr, at Joseph's father's home.

The trip included staying at Castle Waldek, a medieval fortress complete with dungeons. From there, we traveled south to München, Innsbruck, Verona, and Venice. Everyone had a good time looking at the cannels, eating pasta, and riding in a gondola. After we left Venice, we traveled north through Milano, where our car was broken into and Vibeké's radio stolen, Como, Lugarno, and Luzerne.

In Luzerne we stayed in a hundred year old mansion that has been converted into hotel rooms. Our room was the dinning room and Vibeké stayed in the kitchen. After leaving Luzerne, we traveled north through Freiberg, Heidelberg, and on to Frankfurt. From where we flew home.

Earl, as you may know, is interested in genealogy. He spent a lot of time this year working on the book his mother, Phyllis, started on the Sayer Family. He and his mother have gathered a great deal on that family with help from several people. Earl again promises to write soon to all those that have help him over the last year and share his findings on the families.

Well that's our life in 1989. We are always happy to hear from you and what you and your family have been doing.

We accept, letters, phone calls, visits, etc. at our new home. If you are ever out our way, let us know and maybe we can get together and relive old times. We have an extra room. Our phones are: (818) 999-9851 and (818) 999-9852. There is a recorder on both.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Earl, Chris, & Vibeké Cory
