Dear Friends,

Time again for the annual letter from the Corys. We have spent two years in our new home in Agoura. This year we worked on the garage interior. Earl's father came down from Pacific Grove and framed in a laundry room and workshop. Earl's nephew, Richard, came over and put up the dry wall. Earl installed the cabinets and floor. Chris painted and stained the whole project.

Vibeké turned seventeen this fall and is in her junior year in high school. Her main interest is still drama. This year she had a major supporting role in the school play, "The Martian Chronicles". Further, she received the Best Supporting Actress award for her part last in years "The Miracle Worker". At the annual Thespians Conference, held each year at Cypress College, she was selected to perform in the "State" production. Only a few of the thousand or so attendees are selected for this honor. The fight film, that her drama class was in last year, was released this year. Look for her at ringside. During the summer she continued her acting by taking lessons from a drama coach at the local theater in Agoura.

This month, Vibeké is changing schools. Her new school, Oak Hill, in Sepulveda, is a small school, much like Bedford. It has a student population of 90; ranging from grades 6 though 12, with the greatest number in the High School range. Their main emphasis, beside the academics, is Drama.

You will remember that last year we obtained a new family member, an all black cat. Vibeké named it "Cosmic Dude", but we found out this year that its name should be "Cosmic Dudette".

Chris has been with Relational Technology Incorporated (RTI) as a Southern California Technical Support Representative (TSR) for a year now. She has been working hard. Early in the year she was promoted to Southern California Technical Support Manager, with people reporting to her in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties. Her job has her traveling around Southern California, with occasional trips to the San Francisco area where the home office is in Alameda. She has had to go to TSR meetings in Jackson Hole and Palm Springs. Her highlight of the year was a whirlwind business trip to Mexico City, where she had the opportunity to practice her Spanish in a technical environment. During her spare time, she "plays" in her garden.

Earl completed his sixth year at EATON Corporation in Westlake Village as a Systems Manager. EATON sold his division to CONTEL Corporation on September first. There was no change in anything except the stationary. His staff has doubled to two. This year his activities in the Digital Equipment Computer User Society (DECUS) expanded. He was chosen to be the "Meeting Coordinator" for one of their semiannual symposia. His meeting is in Atlanta in May.

We have been up to other things this year. This summer we did a lot of traveling. Chris's company rewards the sales people who exceed quota with a trip. The sales people are allowed to take with them their "favorite" TSR. Therefore, Chris and Earl spent a week in Bermuda. The flight to Bermuda went through Boston. Since Earl was already there on a business trip, Vibeké used his ticket and did some shopping with Chris before returning home on her own. Earl and Chris spent a day in Plymouth before traveling on to Bermuda. They stayed at the South Hampton Princess Hotel, ate a lot, rode mopeds around the island, took pictures, played in the water, and just generally relaxed. In the mean time, Vibeké had an eight-day party at home. (You probably have seen the movie).

The three of us spent another week in Mexico. We visited our friends, the Ortizs in Guadalajara and traveled with them to Puerto Viarta. There we joined Cristina Troncoso and her family. Cristina is also an Ortiz and a girl that lived with Chris during high school. Vibeké spent every night at Carlos O’Brian’s dancing. From there, we traveled back to Guadalajara and on to Acapulco for three more days. In the mean time, Christina and her family returned home to Mexico City. Vibeké left Acapulco the day before Earl and Chris and stayed in Mexico City with the Troncosos for a day.

Earl was forced to go to Hawaii three times this year on business. Vibeké joined him on his last trip in December. His Advantage miles are adding up and we hope to use them to go to Europe next summer.

Earl, as you may know, is interested in genealogy. He spent the Forth of July with friends from Digital Equipment Corporation and traveled the back roads of Massachusetts searching out the Cory ancestors. He has corresponded with several Cory families in the Watertown, New York area and has put together a nearly complete genealogy for his branch of the Corys from 1645 to present. His mother and father also share the same interest and have gathered most of the information he is using on their trips to the east. Last year his mother, Phyllis, started a book on the Sayer Family that Earl has been helping with. He and his mother have gathered a great deal on that family with help from several people. Ear promises to write soon to all those that have help him over the last year and share his findings on the families.

Speaking of Earl's mother and father, they celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary in April with many of their friends, relatives, and family. It was the first time that the entire family had been together in several years.

Well that's our life in 1988. We are always happy to hear from you and what you and your family have been doing.

We accept, letters, phone calls, visits, etc. at our new home. If you are ever out our way, let us know and maybe we can get together and relive old times. We have an extra room. Our phones are: (818) 707-3540 and (818) 707-3542. There is a recorder on both.

Hope to hear from you soon.
