Member News

Robert agreed to take Cardinal Health, as long as he could report on it at the same time as Papa John’s Pizza.  No one objected, less they have to take it.  This leaves with 5 reports those months and only 3 the following month.  We need to move either ADC, POS, or ERICY to the following month.

The NAIC bulletin was passed around so that people could see the classes that are available during the next quarter.  It was indicated that the class schedule is also available on the NAIC website, http://www.better-investing.org/regions/sanfran.html. An event registration form is also available at http://www.better-investing.org/regions/sanfran2.html

New Business

Sandra review what the club is and what the members are responsible for out guest, Don Rose.  Don is a Co-worker of Earls at Marin General Hospital, which he freely admitted.

The Babs web site was mentioned and there were several requests to add links to other sites, such as NAIC (http://www.better-investing.org) and Motley Fool (http://www.fool.com).  A list of members and their email address was requested to be place on the site (Pipi requested that she not be included, she does not want to get anymore hate-email.)  We would also like to get our site registered with other sites, but I can’t find a place to do it.

Portfolio Review:

Note: in the options part of the toolkit, there is the ability to perform splits on stock.  This should be done before data entry of new data

Review of companies followed:

ADCT – Looks very good.  They are in the process of purchasing a DSL company.  Their current price is in the hold range.

POS – Looks good.  Price is in the hold range.

ERICY – Sales are up, still looks good.  Make some kind of agreement with Nokio.  Keep watching

PZZA – Looking very strong.  Growing faster than the three pizza chains above them.  They may be opening stores in the bay area (commercials have been seen.)  Their lawsuit is now in review and may be overturned.

Industry’s To Study

Pipi – presented WPP Group, an advertising company.  It is European based and has a different accounting and reporting system.  Pipi was unable to figure out what value line was reporting on.

Stock Purchase

Robert moved to buy an additional 10 shares of PZZA, 6 for, 2 opposed.

Business Week

Earl reported on an article/book review in last week’s issue of Business Week.  It showed a graph of birth rate offset by 45 years superimposed on one of the market indexes.  The two graphs were identical, indicating that the baby boomers are driving the economy and the market.  The graph indicates that the market will peak in 2008 and there will be a large decline.
